Memorial Day Weekend Activities

I don’t care what the calendar says or what the weather is doing, Memorial Day Weekend marks the official start of summer. I’ve tried to get so aggressive as trying to make Cinco de Mayo the start of summer, but it really hasn’t worked out, so MDW it is.

If you’re like me (and anyone else who is a good time), you’re all about packing this weekend with ample opportunity for fun. If you’re having trouble figuring out what to do this weekend, you need to get some new friends…or check out our list of things to do over Memorial Day Weekend.

Head to your local stadium to cheer on your favorite team in a good ole fashion game of baseball. For our 21+ crowd, this means the perfect excuse to grab beers outside on a nice day with your friends…which we assume you will be doing all weekend anyways. Nothing starts off an awesome night quite like spending it with your city’s finest, watching your team crush their opponent. If they happen to lose, let’s be honest; you probably never cared about the outcome to begin with, and you’ll be asking who won the next day or later that night anyway.

NBA & NHL Playoffs

Have your friends over for the game or go to your favorite local bar this weekend to watch the Heat vs. Pacers or Spurs vs. Grizzlies in the NBA Conference Finals, or the Bruins-Rangers, Penguins-Senators, Kings-Sharks, or Blackhawks-Redwings in the NHL Conference Semis. There’s plenty of sports to enjoy this weekend. Ladies, if you’re scoping for dudes this weekend, go to a sports bar.

BBQs & Cookouts

Don’t know of any? Save the day and host a last minute barbecue. Tell everyone to bring a food item and BYOB. It will be an inexpensive day/night. All you need to do is tidy up and get ready for some more cleaning the next day, but it will be worth it.

Go to a show

This is a huge concert weekend. Whether you’re in the Chicago area and heading to Electric Daisy Carnival, in the Boston area and going to the opening weekend of Ocean Club, going to Sasquatch Festival in Washington, or anywhere else in the country, there’s tons of entertainment to enjoy. Let us know what’s going on in your area.

Sunday AND Monday fun day!!

The possibilities are endless.

Lastly…pray for good weather

Nothing could mess up Memorial Day Weekend more than experiencing bad weather. Although this weekend marks the beginning of summer no matter what, we’d like the set it off with some sunshine and warm temperatures.
